Anna Scheller

Anna Scheller - Polish harpist, soloist, and chamber musician.

 

She began studying harp at the age of 9 with Ewa JaÅ›lar-Walicka. In 2013, she graduated with honors from Professor Helga Storck's class at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where she teaches harp as an assistant professor. In 2018, she earned her Doctor of Arts degree. She organizes periodic harp events in Katowice, such as Silesian Harp Days and Katowice Harp Encounters. Since 2004, she has been a member of the Polish Harp Society.

She has broadened her interpretive experience in master classes with, among others, Jana Bouskova, Susan McDonald, Elzbieta M. Szmyt, Isabelle Moretti, Emmanuel Ceysson, and Germaine Lorenzini. She performs as a soloist and chamber musician at home and abroad (France, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Romania).

She is a laureate of national and international competitions, including first prize at the Franz Josef Reinl International Harp Competition in Vienna (2012), first prize at the 1st National Competition of Duos with Harp in Cieszyn and a special award for the best interpretation of contemporary music (2005).

She collaborates with many chamber ensembles, often forming unusual instrumental line-ups. She performs music of all eras - from the oldest works to the premieres of the newest music, frequently composed especially for her. Together with many orchestras, such as the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, the AUKSO Orchestra of the City of Tychy, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, and the Orchestra of New Music, she has played under the baton of conductors, including Lawrence Foster, Alexander Liebreich, Charles Dutoit, Yaroslav Shemet, Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk, Jacek Kasprzyk, and Szymon Bywalec.
