Ex Nihilo Nihil is a collaborative work by Fabrizio Brugnera and Davide Fasiello, situated at the intersection of dark ambient and dark cinematic music, approached through an experimental lens.

The composition originates from an initial idea conceived as a drone-based framework, a sonic structure meant to sustain and support form. Yet, in the process of creation, this framework gradually lost its function, dissolving under its own transformation. What remains is not a variation of the original idea, but its residue: a work shaped by erosion rather than construction.

Philosophically, Ex Nihilo Nihil reflects the paradox of creation itself. While nothing can arise from nothing, meaning often emerges from abandonment, decay, and mutation. The piece exists as the outcome of a negation, where intention collapses, and sound asserts its own autonomous logic. The original form is absent, yet its absence becomes generative, allowing the composition to exist in its present state.

In this sense, the track is not a beginning, but a remainder: a sonic trace of what once was, and what could no longer remain.
